She loves these oragami creation of paper flowers taught to her by visiting volunteers, as they match the colors of her painted fingernails. She told us that her elderly friend from the home she stays in applies fingernail polish for her frequently, and she returns the favour gladly. Elders love to look pretty too :)

A lonely elderly out walking. Elderly people who live on their own can be very lonely. Volunteer are greatly needed to break the social isolation, especially those who are sick, handicapped or bedridden.

Volunteer Douglas Huntley visited Mrs. Edna Parker in Shelbyville, Indiana. He describes, "Edna is a very sweet, lovely yet delicate lady with whom I sincerely enjoyed spending some of the afternoon with today. While she liked the planter I brought her, she was more interested in the large Teddy Bear someone had left her."
